Great place, with fantastic customer service. Charlie has been a smiling face, an open book of knowledge, and always made us feel welcome since we were kids coming in there with my parents and GRANDparents. His new co-owner could smile, or at least be happy, or even just pretend to not be annoyed by our presence. If he can't be happy he should stay in the back and refrain from scowling at the customers. There's a schnucks across the street and a dierbergs 2 minutes away buddy. We come here, because of the people, and the quality. It's sure as hell not for the bargain pricing, and your sour puss.

I took venison to have made in to snack sticks. There price is $9.00 per pound. Most places charge per pound for finished product. I normally take deer meat to Williams Brothers in Washington Missouri but decided to go to Matekers because of location. Since there is about 50% shrinkage I figured I'd own about $300 for 30 pounds of snack sticks. I get there and it's not stack sticks but snack sausage. I also find out they charge $9.00 per pound for raw product. So 60 pounds of raw meat comes to $600 for about 35 pounds of finished product. Their $9.00 per pound is actually about $17.00 per pound. For that I could have bought lobster. I called Williams Brothers and Kendricks. For snack sticks their price is about $5.00 to $600 per pound for finish products. My cost for 35 pounds of sticks would have been $175. Matekers charge $600. I put down $60 when I dropped off the meat. I almost just said forget it but paid the $600 total an wrote it off as lesson learned. Lesson: Last time I get tricked f'ed by Matekers.
